Version 2 of El Salvador’s electronic invoicing adds two events that are transmitted to the Ministry of Finance (Hacienda) and receive their own reception stamp: the return event and the special operations event. You can find them in DTE events.
They are only available to companies in El Salvador migrated to version 2 (Migration to DTE v2) with electronic invoicing active and in normal mode. They are a notice to Hacienda: they do not move inventory, accounts receivable or accounting, and they do not generate a credit note.

Return event

Use it when refunds occur, deposits on containers or packaging are recovered, or, in exports, the amount exported decreases. If what you need is to return the entire sale or correct an invoice, use invalidation or a credit note.
1

Open DTE events → New return

Choose whether the return is on invoices and exports (sales) or on excluded-subject invoices (purchases).
2

Select the documents

Search by control number or generation code. Only documents that still have a balance to return and are within the deadline are listed.
3

Indicate what is returned

Each document brings its lines: adjust the quantity, price and discount of what is actually returned. The system shows you the document’s available amount live.
4

Issue

The event is signed, transmitted and saved with its stamp. If Hacienda rejects it, you will see all its observations.

Special operations event

It is used to report simplified sales invoices and internal control vouchers issued outside the normal flow. You can detail a document per line or a range with Doc. From and Doc. To: the quantity is calculated automatically. An event supports up to 2,000 lines.

Invalidate an event

In the event detail, Invalidate sends the invalidation event. Hacienda accepts it until 23:59:59 on the tenth business day of the month following the period in which the event received its stamp; the system tells you the deadline and does not allow transmitting after it. You must indicate who performs and who requests the invalidation (name, document type and number). Events have no replacement document. The detail of an invalidated event shows the event date, the moment Hacienda received the invalidation and its stamp.
