> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.filexpress.app/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Branch Settings > Branch details, points of sale, document appearance, templates, commissions, thermal printer and scale Branch settings centralize all operational adjustments: from legal details to printer and scale behavior. Changes apply immediately to the documents generated from that branch. ## How it is organized The screen is organized into **tabs**, and tabs with many settings are in turn divided into **sections** in a side menu (on small screens they are just as easy to move through): | Tab | Sections and content | | - | - | | **General** | **Details** (basic information, location and contact), **Operation** (establishment code, branch type, tax-inclusive prices and salesperson commission) and **Point of Sale (POS)**. | | **Points of sale** | The branch's cash registers with their numbering. | | **Documents** | Invoice and quotation **colors** with preview, and text **templates** for the footer of quotations and invoices. | | **Devices** | Scale (variable-weight scale) and thermal printer. | | **Fields by country** | Visible and required fields in customers, suppliers and products. | | **Mobile app notifications** | Administrators only: push notices of issued invoices, per branch. | ## Branch details | Field | Required | Description | | - | - | - | | **Name** | Yes | Branch name — appears on invoices and documents | | **Slogan** | No | Secondary text under the name on documents | | **Establishment code** | Yes | Establishment code with the tax authority. In El Salvador: an uppercase letter and 3 digits registered with the Ministry of Finance (Hacienda) (`M001` head office, `S001`, `S002`… branches), used in the DTE control number. Unique within the company. See [Points of sale](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/caja/puntos-de-venta.md). | | **Branch type** | Yes | Classification of the site (head office, branch, warehouse, etc.) | | **Country / Department / Municipality** | No | Geographic location — chained: when you change the country, departments reload. In countries without a loaded catalog (for example, the United States) the free-text fields **State / Province** and **City** are shown, and that text is printed on documents | | **Address** | No | Full physical address | | **Phone** | No | Branch contact phone | | **Email** | Yes | Branch email (must be valid) | Below the establishment code, the **current code** is shown (establishment + default point of sale, for example `M001P001`). It is informational only. Changing the establishment code affects only new documents; those already issued keep their control number. > [!WARNING] > > If the branch appears without an establishment code, fill it in with the one registered with the Ministry of Finance (Hacienda). ## Operation In the **Operation** section of the General tab are the **branch type** (Head Office or Branch), the establishment code and the following option: | Option | Default | Description | | - | - | - | | **End-consumer invoice prices include tax** | Off | Applies to El Salvador's Factura de Consumidor Final (FC, end-consumer invoice), Guatemala's Factura and the United States Invoice. When off, the unit price you type in [New sale](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/ventas/nueva-venta.md) is without VAT (IVA). When on, the price already includes the tax and the total to pay is exactly the amount entered. The POS does not use it yet. | ## Point of Sale (POS) The **Point of Sale (POS)** section controls the behavior of the branch's [POS](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/caja/punto-de-venta.md): | Option | Description | | - | - | | **Allow invoicing with stock at 0** | If disabled, the POS blocks the sale of physical products without available stock. | | **Do not show products with stock of 0 or less** | Hides products without stock from the POS. | | **Prevent overselling (limit quantity to stock)** | Does not allow adding more units to the cart than are in stock. | | **Printer paper width (mm)** | 80 mm (default), 58 mm or 40 mm. | ## Points of sale The **Points of sale** tab manages the branch's cash registers: each with its code (`P001`, `P002`…), its document numbering and its cash shifts. See [Points of sale](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/caja/puntos-de-venta.md). ## Document appearance You can customize the brand colors that appear on invoices and quotations. The system validates that they are valid hexadecimal colors (`#RRGGBB`). | Document | Primary color (default) | Secondary color (default) | | - | - | - | | Invoices | `#3064FA` (blue) | `#6c757d` (gray) | | Quotations | `#28a745` (green) | `#6c757d` (gray) | The **Reset colors** button returns all values to the defaults. ## Document templates Each document type has two rich-text templates (editor with support for bold, lists, headings and links): | Template | Where it appears | | - | - | | **Quotation terms and conditions** | At the bottom of each generated quotation | | **Quotation notes** | Internal notes section of the quotation | | **Invoice terms and conditions** | At the bottom of each generated invoice | | **Invoice notes** | Internal notes section of the invoice | ## Commissions | Field | Description | | - | - | | **Default commission rate** | Default commission percentage for salespeople. It is used when a salesperson has no rate of their own configured. Leave empty to disable | ## Thermal printer For the point of sale with a networked ESC/POS receipt printer: **1. Enter the printer host** IP address or network name where the print server is exposed (e.g., `192.168.1.100:8080`). **2. Enter the printer name** Name of the printer on the print server. **3. Test Print** Sends a test receipt. Confirm that the connection works before using in production. **4. Test Drawer (optional)** Sends the ESC/POS command to open the cash drawer. > [!NOTE] > > The printer configuration is saved per device (not on the server). If you switch computers, you must reconfigure the printer host and name. > [!WARNING] > > Printing receipts on the web requires the **FileXpress print service** installed on a computer on the branch network, which connects ESC/POS printers (USB or network) and the cash drawer. **Contact [support](mailto:soporte@filexpress.app)** to install and configure it. The [mobile app](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/app/introduccion.md) prints directly to Bluetooth thermal printers. ## Scale (weight barcode) Configures reading of barcodes issued by electronic scales (EAN-13 format with embedded weight or price). | Field | Default | Description | | - | - | - | | **Enabled** | `false` | Turns on recognition of scale barcodes | | **Prefix** | `01` | The first digits of the barcode that identify it as a scale barcode | | **Product code start** | `2` | Position (0-indexed) where the SKU code starts within the barcode | | **Weight length** | `0` | Number of digits reserved for weight (0 = no weight, uses price) | | **Weight decimals** | `2` | How many decimals the weight has (e.g., 2 to read `0150` as 1.50kg) | | **Price length** | `5` | Number of digits reserved for price | | **Price decimals** | `2` | How many decimals the price has | | **Check digit** | `true` | Whether the barcode includes the EAN check digit | **Example with price format** (no weight): barcode `0112345006750` with prefix `01`, a 5-digit price with 2 decimals = price `$67.50`, product code = `12345`. **Example with weight format**: barcode with `weight_length > 0` — the system first extracts the weight, then the price, then the product code according to the configured positions. > [!WARNING] > > The scale configuration must exactly match the format issued by the specific scale. Consult the manufacturer's manual for the correct parameters. *** Save the changes with the **Save settings** button at the bottom of the form. ## Field settings Defines which fields are shown and which are required in the **Customers**, **Suppliers** and **Products** forms, to adapt them to your operation (for example, hide NRC or company size if you don't use them, or make email required). | Form | Configurable fields (examples) | | - | - | | Customers and Suppliers | Legal name, document type and number, NIT, NRC, business activity, company size, address, phone, email, state and city (free text outside El Salvador). | | Products | Availability, margin and other optional data. | Structural fields (name, branch, country, customer type) are always visible and required.
