# Accounts Payable

> Tracking of credit purchases pending payment to suppliers

The Accounts Payable (AP) module shows all obligations pending payment to suppliers, letting you control due dates and avoid late payments.

## Module indicators

> [card] Current
>
> Obligations within the term agreed with the supplier.

> [card] Overdue
>
> Obligations that passed their due date without being paid.

The progress bar shows the percentage already paid vs. the total pending.

## View grouped by supplier

The main screen groups obligations by **supplier**, with the number of invoices, the total pending, the overdue amount and the longest delay. Expand a supplier with the arrow on the left to see only its invoices and register payments from there.

## Register a payment

Open the detail of the corresponding expense → **Register payment** → enter amount and method → save.

| Field | Use |
| - | - |
| **Petty cash** | With the cash method, the petty cash fund the payment is made from (empty = general cash). |
| **Checkbook** | With a check payment, the active checkbook of the selected bank. |
| **Cost center** | Optional. If left empty, the payment takes the purchase's [cost center](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/contabilidad/centros-de-costo.md). |

## Foreign-currency purchases

Accounts Payable balances are always kept in the company's **base currency**. When a purchase was registered in another currency (see [Multi-currency](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/sistema/multi-moneda.md)), the **document amount in its currency** is also shown, along with the rate used and the balance in that currency:

* In the list **rows**.
* When **registering a payment** on the purchase.
* In the purchase's **payment history**.

Total cards, summaries and PDF/Excel reports stay in base currency.

## Reports

Go to **Accounts Payable → Reports** to generate the statement of accounts for the period with detail by supplier and due date.
