# Cash register

> Opening, movements, closing, and history of the cash register from the app

The app's cash register is the same [cash register](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/caja/caja-registradora.md) as the web: a register opened on the phone shows up on the web and vice versa.

## Open the cash register

**1. Go to More → Cash Register → Open register**

**2. Choose the Point of sale**

If the branch has more than one active [point of sale](https://docs.filexpress.app/en/docs/caja/puntos-de-venta.md), the selection is mandatory. The app suggests the last one you used on that phone or, failing that, the branch's default. Each option shows whether it is the **Default** and whether it already has an **open shift**, and by whom. With a single point of sale, it is used automatically (*Point of sale: ...*).

**3. Enter the opening amount (starting cash) and confirm**

If the chosen point of sale already has an open shift, the app says so (*This point of sale already has a shift opened by ...*) and does not let you open another: choose a different point of sale or work with that shift.

Sales recorded while the register is open use the document numbering of its point of sale.

## Switch point of sale

If the branch has several points of sale, the **Switch point of sale** button (arrows at the top of the cash register screen) lets you move to another point of sale: the app shows its register (open or not) and remembers your choice for next time.

## Shift card

The open register shows the **Point of sale**, **Opened by** (the user who opened the shift), and the shift amounts. The history and the detail of a closed register also show **Closed by**.

## Record movements

**Add movement** records cash inflows or outflows that are not sales:

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| **Type** | Income or Expense. |
| **Amount** | Value of the movement. |
| **Description** | Reason (e.g. supply purchase, owner withdrawal). |

## Close the cash register

**1. Tap Close register**

**2. Review the expected summary**

Sales by payment method, and recorded income and expenses.

**3. Enter the declared amount (counted cash)**

The app shows the difference between what was expected and what was counted.

**4. Confirm and print the cash count report (optional)**

## History and reports

* **Cash register history**: previous registers with their point of sale, who opened and who closed them, and their detail of movements and payment methods.
* **Reports**: registers in a date range with the accumulated difference.
